Born Again Conduct: Means of Putting Away Sinful Acts and Attitudes

In this message Pastor Jim continues exploring our born again conduct by identifying means of putting away sinful attitudes and actions. This includes three characteristics that are always present in a true desire for God’s Word and growth. Individuals who have been born again by God’s Spirit through His Word live radically different from the world. Their conduct is not merely moral, but holy. The means of living out this life of holiness is the same means one becomes a Christian – the Word of God. And any spiritual growth begins with desire for the Word.

Born Again Conduct: What We Put Away

In this sermon we identify three actions and two attitudes that born again believers strive to eliminate. Individuals who have been born again by God’s Spirit through His Word live radically different from the world. Their conduct is not merely moral, but holy. The means of living out this life of holiness is the same means one becomes a Christian – the Word of God. And any spiritual growth begins with desire for the Word.

The Word of God: Our Great Treasure

1 Peter 1:22-25 – Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for “All flesh is like grass     and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers,     and the flower…

Loving One Another with a Holy Love – Part 2

1 Peter 1:22-25 – Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for “All flesh is like grass     and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers,     and the flower…

Loving One Another with a Holy Love

We continue our journey through the Apostle Peter’s first letter landing on his second command given to the exiled Christians in Asia Minor – “Love one another earnestly.” Christians love other Christians. A mark of obeying Peter’s first command “Be holy as I am holy” is a growth in the practice of obeying his second – loving other Christians; a love that is an outflow of one’s personal experience of God’s love.

Model of a Holy Life: Our Lord Jesus – Part 5

In this message we will conclude our study on beholding the Lord Jesus Christ, the model of our holiness, by seeking to gaze upon Him in His exalted state. Seeing Jesus spiritually in heaven is the foundation for holy living and holy worship. The chief aim in the life of a Christian is to glorify God by conforming more and more into His image and that of being holy. And our holiness is not measured by conduct foremost but by looking to our God who is holy, holy, holy.
