Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Old Testament

By a Strong Hand

By a Strong Hand; the phrase appears three times in today’s scripture. It reveals how the Israelites were delivered from Egyptian bondage, but also paints a wonderful picture of God’s love, care, and protection.

Job’s Response to Zophar: The Defenses are Up

This Lord’s Day, Job responds to the last of his three friends, Zophar, but in the company of all. In his words, he exposes them for what they are – confused and comfortless, and begins a defensive of himself with his God. There is much insight to learn from his response with a chief one being the danger of self-deception revealed in his friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar.

Sin is a Ruthless Master

It promises pleasure but only delivers pain.  It promises fulfillment but only creates emptiness.  It promises contentment but only leads to discontent.  It promises happiness but brings sorrow.  It promises satisfaction but produces regret.
