Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

John

No One Is Denied

One sad reality of the Christian life is our many times of failing the Lord. We hate them. We get discouraged over them. We may even feel like raising the white flag of spiritual surrender and cry out in defeat, This is when the devil intensifies his attack on us. How so? He will attempt to get us to believe his lies about our Lord. So how do we overcome him when his lies about our failing the Lord are actually true? True that we fail, but untrue of the picture he paints of the Lord Jesus? Today’s verse is a powerful piece of armor which always silences the lies of the devil when he makes an all-out attack upon us after we fail the Lord.

Three Realities In The Christian Life

John 16:33 – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” THEME OF THE DAY. THREE REALITIES IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE. The title of today’s nugget is rather simplistic. I know there are more than three realities in the Christian life.…

A Resolve To Love

John 14:15 – If you love me, you will keep my commandments. THEME OF THE DAY: A RESOLVE TO LOVE. In yesterday’s Daily Nugget, we re-affirmed the Biblical truth that the Christian life is one of constant spiritual warfare. There is another aspect of the Christian life that also is constant; a daily resolve to love God. The whole reason why God…

Doing Battle Against The devil

The last book of the Revelation identifies one of the titles and work of the devil. John writes, “And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God” (Revelation 12:10). The devil is a master at accusing God’s children of many things.

The Holy Spirit And The Child Of God

All Christians know they cannot live the Christian life alone. They need the constant help of God’s Spirit to keep them from sin, promote their holiness, and renew their minds toward eternal things. Remove the Spirit and Christians are done. The commands of God are beyond human capacity. The attacks of the devil are no match for us. And the flesh is so strong, we fail every time we try to subdue it in the strength of self.
