TAKE UP AND READ: Our recommended book for the month of July is a Christian classic titled SPIRITUAL DEPRESSION: ITS CAUSES AND CURE by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. This is one of those Christian classics every believer should read and re-read. The “Doctor”, as he was known, preached a series of 21 sermons in 1954 on a topic that needs much attention among Christians and in pulpits today. Arguably, in the best expository preaching of our generation, the “Doctor” provides for us a detailed handling of spiritual depression in the life of the believer. Covering 300 pages, derived from the sermon series, it will be of tremendous help for the depressed Christian and a great took for equipping Christians to minister biblical comfort to those suffering this formidable spiritual foe.
I give this book my highest recommendation and it should be read by every Christian who wants a thorough Biblical handling of spiritual depression with ways to defeat it in our lives and in those we minister to in our homes, churches, and communities.
