Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Jesus Is Enough

COLOSSIANS 2:9-10 – For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.”

THEME OF THE DAY: JESUS IS ENOUGH.   Do you believe the theme of today’s nugget? Of course!  And when life is sailing along relatively smooth, we easily proclaim “Jesus is enough.”  What about when life is overwhelming, circumstances are drowning us, burdens weighing us down like anchors, and our prayers are not full of praise and thanksgiving but words of desperation, “Lord, I cannot go on.  I am at the end of my rope. I have nothing left.” ?

In today’s scripture, God states His Son is “deity in the flesh” and that not in small measure. One is reminded of the prologue in John’s Gospel declaring the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus – And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14).  But a most staggering truth follows this – and you have been filled in Him.  Ponder this truth.  The Son of God Himself, the all-powerful Creator, the Great I am, the Alpha and Omega, the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords, indwells His people!

What does this mean in a practical way? Jesus is enough.  In closing out the Gospel of Matthew, the Lord gives His disciples and us what is known as the “Great Commission” – And Jesus came and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20). He promises two things which will always be enough, not only in obeying the Great Commission but in all we will face in life.  Those two things?  His power and His Presence.

So as we go through life and encounter situations and circumstances that are way too much for us to handle, don’t fall prey to fear and unbelief.  Remember who dwells within us.  Remember we are not alone.  Remember we have all the resources of the Godman, the Lord Jesus, at our disposal. And to help remember these truths, put this verse to memory, and better yet, put it to use in our lives. It will remind us Jesus is enough –  I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20).

PRAYER: “Father, I praise You for granting all I need for life and death is in Your Son.”

QUOTE: “Never forget the One who lives within us is God, all that is in Him is in us.”

In the affection of Christ Jesus,
