Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

A Most Comforting Truth Of Our God

PSALM 102:25-28 – Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end. The children of your servants shall dwell secure; their offspring shall be established before you.”

THEME OF THE DAY:  A MOST COMFORTING TRUTH OF OUR GOD.  Quick Bible quiz.  Name three of the most comforting truths about our God that brings joy, peace, rest and even excitement into our walks with Him.  By the way, no one fails this quiz.  Whatever truths the child of God proclaims of Him are glorious, comforting and empowering but here are my three.

First, the truth that God not only loves but is love brings great comfort, peace, joy and rest to a troubled and tried heart.  The Apostle John proclaims, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:7-8). This means everything, not some that come into our lives, are sent from the loving heart of our God!  What an astounding truth to embrace!

Another truth of God bringing stability into our lives with comfort, peace, joy and frees us from slavish fear is our God is sovereign. He is in complete control of all things in the world to include the very details in our lives minute-by-minute.  Soak in these words of the Psalmists – The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! (Psalm 99:1) and Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases (Psalm 115:2-3). Sleep well tonight, child of God. All is going according to plan, His plan, and we are safe in the loving and sovereign arms of our God.

The third comforting truth of our God is in today’s scripture and oh what a truth it is!  But let’s start with us. Ever wake up on the wrong side of the bed?  Not literally, but mood-wise?  Have we entered the day grumpy, irritated, frustrated, impatient, and we haven’t even rolled out of bed?  Then, there is the other side.  The “bad mood” of yesterday gave way to waking up refreshed, energized, and ready to enter the day with gusto and zeal.  What is up with us?  Our emotions drive us too much and make life, even the Christian life, like a rollercoaster.  Well, be comforted and strengthened.  That is not our God. Never moody.  Never altering His dealings with us based on unchecked emotions.  Nope.  He is, as the Psalmist proclaims above, “Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end.” Embracing the unchanging nature of God will help us deal with our always changing moods.

So, Bible quiz.  How did we do?  If we didn’t include the three answers provided in today’s nugget, do so.  It will bring great joy and peace into our hearts and minds.

PRAYER: “Father, I praise You for being the unchanging God; You are making my faith in You most secure.”

QUOTE: “Let the unchanging nature of our God establish a more consistent and unchanging walk with Him by us.”

Because of Him,
