A Servant of the Lord: The Difference between Service and Servanthood

2. A servant lives for Christ and others: Phil. 1:20-26

Four things modeled in the servant Paul concerning Christ:

– Lives with a single-minded objective and compass: Phil. 1:21

– Lives yearning to exchange faith in Christ for sight of Christ: Phil. 1:23

– Lives investing in the spiritual good of Christ’s people: Phil. 1:24-25, 1 Thess. 2:5-8

3. A servant lives as Christ lived: Phil. 2:1-8, John 13:3-5, John 13:12-17

4. A servant lives sacrificially: Phil. 2:17, Matt. 20:28, Luke 22:24-27

5. A servant lives esteeming Christ above all: Phil. 3:7-9, Ps. 73:25

6. A servant lives conforming to Christ: Phil. 3:10-16, Rom. 8:28-30

7. A servant lives to maintain gospel-centered unity: Phil. 4:2-3, 1 Cor. 2:1-5

8. A servant lives content in the providence of God:  Phil. 4:10-13, 2 Cor. 12:8-10
