We hope to look at four reasons why assurance is important and the seek to understand the means God has given us to have assurance. Assurance is a key issue in the Christian life and determines both the quality and effectiveness of our faith in Christ.

In doing so, we gain understanding of what is to characterize our fellowship with God and other Christians – love for God in vertical fellowship leading to love for one another in horizontal fellowship.

This Lord’s Day evening we continue our series in 1 John looking at the spiritual experiences of the Christian life as they are directed by the Scriptures. We hope to establish the “spiritual guardrails” enabling us to discern if a spiritual experience we are having is truly of the Lord or a counterfeit as defined by the Word of God, not our subjective experience.
