Two members greeting each other in the sanctuary

Membership

Membership is how a believer commits to a local church family, to care for others and to be cared for under the shepherding of the elders.

The path

Steps to Membership

1

Take the class

Our New Members and Baptism Class meets for four Sunday mornings, 9:15 to 10:00 AM, and is offered at various times throughout the year. It covers the gospel, baptism, and what it means to belong to Quidnessett Church.

2

Meet with the elders

After you complete the class, the elders will meet with you to get to know you and answer any questions you have.

3

Be baptized

If you have not yet been baptized, we would love to talk with you about taking that step.

4

Be welcomed

New members take the membership vows publicly during a Sunday worship service and are welcomed into the church family.

Our commitments

Membership Vows

Membership is a covenant commitment. These are the vows each new member takes publicly during our Sunday worship service.

  1. Do you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope apart from His sovereign mercy?
  2. Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?
  3. Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as an obedient follower of Christ?
  4. Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of your ability?
  5. Do you submit yourself to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to promote its purity and peace?
