In the past several years, Islam’s presence and influence have grown dramatically in Sierra Leone. By some estimates, more than 75 percent of the country is now Muslim, up from about 55 percent just seven years ago.

A Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) worker in the region said that despite Islam’s growth, VOM’s work is “yielding uncountable fruits in the kingdom of God”. Pray for Christians who are sharing God’s love and truth with their Muslim neighbors. Pray that the church in Sierra Leone will be strengthened and united in its work. Pray that VOM’s work will continue to bear fruit and encourage persecuted believers in Sierra Leone.

Also pray for victims of a recent mudslide and flood that killed more than 400 people and left 3,000 homeless (about 600 are still missing). Pray that the Christians will minister to their Muslim neighbors following this tragedy.
