Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Faith and Assurance

The Words of Freedom

One could and likely should spend significant amount of time pondering the words of Jesus as He hung on the cross. There are seven things He said. The first one revealed His love for sinners. He looked out over the mocking crowd, His weeping mother, saddened disciples, and the curious bystanders and said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). In today’s scripture, are the last words He would speak before dying, “It is finished.” Let’s consider two situations we must rely upon the finished work of our Lord Jesus on the cross for our daily walk with Him.

No One Is Denied

One sad reality of the Christian life is our many times of failing the Lord. We hate them. We get discouraged over them. We may even feel like raising the white flag of spiritual surrender and cry out in defeat, This is when the devil intensifies his attack on us. How so? He will attempt to get us to believe his lies about our Lord. So how do we overcome him when his lies about our failing the Lord are actually true? True that we fail, but untrue of the picture he paints of the Lord Jesus? Today’s verse is a powerful piece of armor which always silences the lies of the devil when he makes an all-out attack upon us after we fail the Lord.

His Sheep Under His Care

Psalm 100:3 – Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. THEME OF THE DAY. HIS SHEEP UNDER HIS CARE. There is no greater place to find rest for our souls. There is no greater place to satisfy our hearts. There is no…

Who Is In Control

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 – For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. THEME OF THE DAY. WHO IS IN CONTROL? There are…

Far From Home

Ever been far away from home for an extended period? Remember those feelings of homesickness deep inside? And those feelings of never feeling totally comfortable knowing it wasn’t home and only temporary? Such feelings and experiences are natural in the Christian and spiritual realm too. Why? This is not our home. In today’s scripture, we have two applications to help us live life in this world as foreigners, aliens, and pilgrims.

Safe In God’s Hands

The voice came from the vicinity of where our dinner table is located, “Would you please come and hold this for me?” My wife was packing something away and needed another hand. So, to the rescue I came, not with one hand, but two and the task not able to be accomplished by one was easily taken care of. All she needed was someone to come alongside with another set of helping hands. Have we recently thought about the security and help we find in God’s hands? As we walk through this sin-cursed and treacherous world, no safer place exists than walking spiritually and by faith, hand in hand with the Lord Jesus.
