PSALM 145:14-20 – “The LORD upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. The LORD preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.”
THEME OF THE DAY: GOD’S GRACE AND HIS CHILDREN. God’s amazing grace is well . . . just amazing! Not enough words in any language adequately define and describe the riches in His amazing grace. It is a treasure chest knowing no bottom; a flowing spring of refreshing water never running dry; and a supply of sufficient strength for every need we have, trial we encounter, and burden in our lives.
There is something else about the amazing grace of our God. It is at work always, 24/7, even when we don’t feel grace at work, grace is at work. In today’s scripture, there are at least five constant workings of God’s grace in His children. There are more, but these are sufficient to cause our hearts to soar in thanksgiving and worship. I will list them. You prayerfully expound them in your life.
First, the grace of God upholds all who are falling. It is so comforting to remember all the times we were at the “end of our ropes” and the grace of God came to our rescue and brought upholding grace when we felt we were falling beyond recovery.
Second, the grace of God satisfies the desire of every living thing. Our world knows nothing about contentment or satisfaction. Sin creates a void, leaving the human soul and heart empty. Yet, for the child of God, His grace brings soul-satisfaction and contentment that cannot be found in the world.
A third working of the grace of God is the open door it provides for His nearness or fellowship with Him – “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth”. Think about it. The God of all grace invites us by His grace to enjoy a reconciled relationship with Him! Don’t neglect or take it for granted.
A fourth manifestation of God’s always at work grace is His eager ear to hear our prayers – “He also hears their cry and saves them”. What a privilege to pray! God’s amazing grace not only saves us but brings us to our prayer closets to know, love, and adore Him!
Finally, the grace of God keeps us – “The LORD preserves all who love him”. Knowing that we are kept by the grace of God ensures we live confidently, boldly, and are on the mission God has called us to without fear and anxiety.
Yes, the grace of God. Truly amazing, and practical as we walk with our God of all grace.
PRAYER: Lord, I praise You for how active You are in my life; caring, protecting, and staying so near to me.
REFLECTION: We may not always sense God is at work in our lives, but there is never a moment He is not.
