Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Yes He Does and Loves Us Still

PSALM 69:5 – O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.”

THEME OF THE DAY:  YES HE DOES AND LOVES US STILL.  Imagine this scenario. Our churches announce that next Lord’s Day is self-examination day.  The pastor is going to preach this text from the New Testament – And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:13). There will be an added feature in the service. Every person in the service will have their past seven days of actions, words, and thoughts put on a large screen for everyone to view. Nothing hidden.  Everything is exposed for all to observe. Obviously, that is humanly impossible, but what if it were? How would we feel if everything about us was to be on display publicly?  I might want to be sick next Lord’s Day!  Would there be embarrassment?  Even shame?  Certainly, some level of humility.  Well, what isn’t possible humanly is a constant reality with God.  All things are exposed before Him and that all the time. Yes, that humbles but it does something else in us.

In today’s scripture is the Old Testament parallel to Hebrews 4:13 – And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.  David reminds us of two truths.  First, is what I mentioned; we are constantly exposed before God.  The second is God knows we are sheep prone to folly and going the wrong way doing the wrong things!  And here is the “something else” I mentioned in closing the first paragraph.

Despite all our follies, all our sinning, all our embarrassing acts only God saw, all our words spoken we thought were private (there are no private conversations, God hears all), and all the wrongs we have done, here is what we hear the Lord say to us in His Word . . .

He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities (Psalm 103:10), The LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you (Jeremiah 31:3), and For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed (Malachi 3:6).  Though we would like to run and hide if people knew all about us out of fear of rejection, not so with God.  Our exposure by Him and the truths He doesn’t deal with us according to our sins, loves us with an everlasting love, and never changes cause us to run to Him in humble worship and love.  Why? For being such a God who knows all about us but still calls us His children and prized possession!

PRAYER: “Father, thank You for knowing all about me and loving me still.”

QUOTE: “God doesn’t love us because He sees good in us. He loves us because He sees Christ in us.”

In the affection of Christ Jesus,
