Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Nothing Hidden: Everything Revealed

HEBREWS 4:13 – And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”

THEME OF THE DAY:  NOTHING HIDDEN: EVERYTHING REVEALED. Today’s scripture is expounded by the words of Jesus Himself.  Luke records them in his gospel – Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops (Luke 12:2-3).

Let’s pause for a moment for a little reflection  Take the truth of today’s scripture – nothing is hidden before God; and the words of Jesus – all will come to light someday, and that day being Judgment Day and ask of ourselves these two questions.

First, do we believe these truths?  The obvious answer is “Of course. We are Christians.  We believe the Bible is the Word of God.  These truths are in the Bible so, yes, of course we believe them.”  Now question number two – “Is our belief in these truths impacting how we live?”   And by the way, if we answer the first question honestly with a yes, the second question will be an equally resounding “yes.”  A true belief that nothing is hidden from God and all will be revealed on our Day of Judgment will radically and consistently impact all areas in our lives.

This impact, like all things in the Christian life, begins in the mind.  It is not only a renewing of our mind toward spiritual and eternal things, but a daily resolve to fix our thoughts on spiritual and eternal things.  The application comes from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the believers in Colossae – If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory (Colossians 3:1-4).  And how do we apply this truth on a regular, even daily, basis?  Here it is . . .

Live with the conscious awareness that no conversation, no activity, no website viewed, no social media engaged, no text or message read or sent, no thought entertained in our minds, and no desire in our hearts is private. All are before our watching God. Should we develop this spiritual and mental discipline, three things will be promoted in our walks with the Lord – humility, holiness, and watchfulness.  And these three things are the necessities for any and all spiritual growth in the Lord.

PRAYER: “Father, I praise You for the truth You know everything about me and still love me.”

QUOTE: “Live in the conscious awareness of God’s constant eye upon us, and it will promote humility and holiness”
