Pleasing God, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Radio 95.5 in RI Now Broadcasting K-LOVE

Starting September 1st, 2017 radio station 95.5 FM, formally WBRU, became WLVO which is an affiliate of K-LOVE, an adult contemporary Christian music network. Up until now the only broadcaster of K-LOVE in the Ocean State was 104.7 FM, a weaker broadcast affiliate. The switch gives Christians in Rhode Island the ability to listen to uplifting and Christ centered music programming throughout the state, carried on a strong and reliable signal.

WLVO’s parent company, Educational Media Foundation (EMF), purchased the broadcast rights and transmitter from Brown Broadcasting Services, owner of WBRU, for $5.63 million. EMF is a California based company that owns and runs two Christian music radio networks, K-LOVE and Air1. Both K-LOVE and Air1 are commercial free music networks offering music by contemporary Christian artists, positive biblical messages, and wholesome on-air personalities.

From 1969 to August 31st of 2017 WBRU aired alternative and modern folk and rock on 95.5 FM. WBRU is now an internet-only broadcaster and will maintain some of their radio format shows as online streams.
